Alisa Ahmed

I moved to London from Australia to study English Language and Literature at King’s College London and went on to graduate from King’s with a Master’s in English Literature, which specialised in the examination of the representation of violence against women in contemporary South Asian Women’s writing.

I started at Greene & Heaton as an intern and now work as an Agency Assistant. I work alongside all our agents, and mostly assist Judith Murray, Claudia Young, and Kate Rizzo. I handle general enquiries, rights enquiries, permission requests, and contract negotiation and administration.

I mostly enjoy reading literary fiction and am drawn to novels that explore day-to-day human experiences, whilst interrogating larger issues such as identity and belonging. I am particularly interested in reading works by writers of colour, and I enjoy non-fiction that explores issues surrounding gender, race and sexuality. In general, I love reading gripping fiction, especially works with a unique perspective and interesting voice.

Imogen Morrell and I co-created and coordinate The Greene Door Project, an open submissions initiative for writers from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, and the Greene Door Pitch Event, an opportunity for aspiring writers from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic writers to meet a literary agent.
