Barry Gornell, born in Liverpool, now lives on the Isle of Bute. He is a novelist and screenwriter, ex-fire-fighter, truck driver and bookshop manager. His short films, Sonny’s Pride and The Race, were broadcast on STV. His short fiction has been published in The Herald, The Scotsman, Gutter and Let’s Pretend, 37 stories about (in)fidelity, (Freight) Barry graduated from the University of Glasgow’s Creative Writing Masters programme in 2008 and was awarded a Scottish Book Trust New Writer’s Bursary in 2009.

His first novel THE HEALING OF LUTHER GROVE was published by Freight in 2012. It has been translated into French. In 2015 he was guest writer in Clermont Ferrand for the month of March, during which he was invited to be part of Quais du Polar crime writing festival in Lyon.  THE WRONG CHILD, his second novel, is to be published in 2017 by Orion Books. He also writes for television and adapts books for screen.
