Benjamin Wood was born in 1981 and grew up in north-west England. A former Commonwealth Scholar, he is now a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Birkbeck, University of London, where he is course director of the undergraduate writing programme.
His début novel, THE BELLWETHER REVIVALS (Simon & Schuster, 2012), was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award, the Commonwealth Book Prize, the Waverton Good Read Award, and won one of France’s foremost literary awards, Le Prix du Roman Fnac in 2014. Film rights to the novel have been sold to NOHO Film & Television in collaboration with BBC Films, with the adaptation being scripted by celebrated playwright David Eldridge.
In 2013, Benjamin served as the British Council’s Writer in Residence in Istanbul, Turkey, where he began researching and writing his second novel, THE ECLIPTIC, which was published by Scribner in 2015 and shortlisted for the Encore Award for best second novel. He is working on his third novel.
He lives with his wife and son in London.
