Ella Frears is a poet, writer and visual artist based in London. Her debut pamphlet, Passivity, Electricity, Acclivity is out with Goldsmiths Press.
Ella was shortlisted for the Manchester Poetry Prize, the Bridport Poetry Prize and came second in the Ruskin Poetry Prize 2017. She was also awarded a place on the prestigious Jerwood/Arvon Mentoring Scheme.
She is a trustee and editor for Magma poetry magazine and has completed residencies for the National Trust, Tate Britain, SPUD (the Observatory), K6 Gallery, Back from the Brink and most recently at Royal Holloway University physics department where she wrote about the Cassini Space Mission.
She has had poems published in Poetry London, Ambit, The Rialto, Poetry Daily, POEM, and the Moth among others. Her collaborative installation with artist Ben Sanderson, The Six Pillars of Modernism, was on show at Tate St.Ives, Oct 2017 – July 2018.
Her first collection, SHINE, DARLING, will be published by Offord Road Books in Spring 2020.
