Shona MacLean was born in Inverness and grew up in the Scottish highlands where her parents were hoteliers. She has an M.A. and Ph.D. in History from the University of Aberdeen. She lives on the Black Isle with her husband and four children.
She is the author of four novels in the Alexander Seaton historical crime series. Her new historical crime series set in Oliver Cromwell’s Commonwealth, begins with THE SEEKER (2015), which won the CWA Historical Dagger Award. The second in the series, THE BLACK FRIAR, was published in October 2016.
