Agent: Carol Heaton

Stephen Anderton, a professional gardener for many years, is now a gardening columnist, author, biographer and lecturer. He writes the award-winning gardening column in The Times, as well as contributing regularly to a large number of other publications. Often a guest on television and radio (including the annual Chelsea Flower Show coverage), he was the presenter of the ITV series, BRITAIN’S BEST BACK GARDENS and is a founder member of the ginger group ThinkinGardens. He lectures widely both nationally and internationally, at festivals (including The Telegraph Hay Festival and Guardian and Times Cheltenham Festivals) and at garden design schools and various smaller horticultural societies. He also writes and performs cabaret songs about gardeners and gardening; after his performance as Master of Ceremonies at the Garden Media Guild Awards at the Savoy, Jane Owen claimed that his songs are “to gardening what Private Eye is to politics” (The Times, 1996).
