Greene & Heaton is happy to introduce The Greene Door Project, which is an open submissions competition for writers from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. For an initial six-week period, from the 17th of September until the 31st of October 2018, the project will be open for writers from BAME backgrounds writing in any genre (please note that we do not accept screenplays). Every submission will be read by at least one of our agents, and after the submission period, the two authors whose work we believe has the most promise will be given feedback and an opportunity to discuss their work with one of our agents.
The aim of The Greene Door Project is to ensure that the work of writers from under-represented backgrounds is considered, and to encourage authors from all backgrounds to submit their work to us. This is in addition to our usual submission process, in which we actively seek submissions from people of all backgrounds.
All submissions should be at least 1.5 line spaced with page numbers and clearly marked with your name and contact details on the title page. Please attach a synopsis and the first three chapters (or about fifty pages) to a covering email and send it to greenedoor@greeneheaton.co.uk, clearly stating ‘The Greene Door Project’ in the subject line. Please note that submissions for the Project will only be valid if these guidelines are followed; any submissions for the Project that are sent to our regular submissions email will not be considered in the competition but will still be considered according to our usual submission process.
For any enquiries about the Project, please email greenedoor@greeneheaton.co.uk.
