Geoffrey Parker
Geoffrey Parker is the Distinguished University Professor and Andreas Dorpalen Professor of History at the Ohio State University and has previously held chairs at the universities of St. Andrews in Britain, British Columbia in Canada, and Illinois and Yale in the United States. Geoffrey has been a university teacher for 45 years and has written, co-written or edited 33 history books and over 100 articles.

His latest book, GLOBAL CRISIS: War, Climate Change and Catastrophe in the Seventeenth Century, is a narrative account of world history in the mid-17th century, describing the interplay of climatic, demographic, political and ideological conditions that brought about the first global crisis of the Modern Age. The book was published by Yale University Press in both the UK and the US in 2013.

His other books include THE THIRTY YEARS’ WAR, THE SPANISH ARMADA (with Colin Martin), THE MILITARY REVOLUTION and THE GRAND STRATEGY OF PHILIP II.

Geoffrey is a Fellow of the British Academy and a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Alfonso the Wise and winner of the Dr A. H. Heineken Prize for History 2012.
