Ian McGuire

Ian McGuire grew up near Hull and studied at the University of Manchester and the University of Virginia, USA. He is a co-founder of the University of Manchester’s Centre for New Writing. His first novel INCREDIBLE BODIES was published in 2006. His second novel, THE NORTH WATER, was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize, won the 2017 RSL Encore Award and the HWA Gold Crown Award and was named one of the top ten books of 2016 by the New York Times. His third novel, THE ABSTAINER, was published by Scribner UK in April 2020.

His latest novel, WHITE RIVER CROSSING, will be published by Scribner in February 2026.
