Kieran Long is the director of ArkDes, the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design, which promotes interest in and appreciation of the values embodied in architecture and design.
Kieran has extensive experience as a curator, having been Keeper of Design, Architecture and Digital at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and having worked at the Venice Architecture Biennale and the Royal College of Art.
Previously he was deputy editor of Icon magazine, which he helped found, and also editor-in-chief of the Architects’ Journal and the Architectural Review. In addition, he wrote for the Evening Standard as an architectural critic. His television credits include Restoration Home, The House That £100k Built, and The £100k House: Tricks of The Trade (all BBC2), and he has also been a regular guest on BBC Radio 3’s Nightwaves, discussing architecture and the city. Kieran has taught at the Royal College of Art and London Metropolitan University, and consulted on urban design matters for Design for London, the Mayor of London’s urban design office. He has been an invited critic at every architectural school in London.
