Agent: Holly Faulks

L. A. MacRae is a Scottish writer, brought up on the coasts of rural Argyll and the East Neuk of Fife. She graduated from Glasgow University with a degree in English and Gaelic and went on to live in Ireland, the Hebrides and Edinburgh’s New Town, where she worked as a researcher and began writing in earnest.

Her early work has been printed in a number of publications including Northwords Now and The Common Breath, with her short story The Long Field winning the HISSAC short story competition in 2016 and Jackdaw Girl shortlisted at the Tarbert book festival 2018.

She now lives on the Isle of Skye where she continues to pursue her interest in cultural memory, rural histories and testimony at the edge of recollection.

In 2021 she completed her debut novel AND NOW THE LIGHT IS EVERYWHERE, which was longlisted for the Caledonian Novel Award. She is currently working on her next novel, a new series of short stories and her first full length screen play.
