Lucy Ashe is an English teacher at a school in London. After training at the Royal Ballet School, she decided to change career plans and go to university. She read English Literature at St Hugh's College, Oxford before doing a PGCE teaching qualification. Her poetry and short stories have been published in a number of literary journals and she was shortlisted for the 2020 Impress Prize for New Writers.
Her upcoming novel CLARA AND OLIVIA (Magpie) is set in London, 1933, and tells the story of two identical twin ballerinas rehearsing for Coppélia at the recently opened Sadler's Wells Theatre. But as they rehearse, danger lurks. Two men, a pianist and a pointe shoe maker, intrude on their lives with their obsessions and desires. The story of Coppélia and the dancing doll threatens to become a dark and sinister reality. This novel was published in February 2023.
Lucy's second novel, THE SLEEPING BEAUTIES, will be published by Magpie in February 2024.
