Alix O'Neill

Alix O'Neill was born and raised in Belfast. She spent twelve years in London, where she was a freelance features writer for publications including Marie Claire, The Times, The Sunday Times Style, The Sunday Times Magazine, The Telegraph, Stella, ES Magazine, London Evening Standard, Red, Grazia and New Statesman.

She was a regular guest commentator and newspaper reviewer for Sky News and has also appeared on Good Morning Britain, LBC Radio’s Nick Ferrari Show, The Front Row on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio London’s Vanessa Feltz show and Talk Radio’s Badass Woman’s Hour.

In 2019, she had a column for Red magazine on her family's search for the good life abroad and in 2021, her memoir, THE TROUBLES WITH US, an account of growing up in Northern Ireland during the 1990s, was published by Fourth Estate. It was named a book of the year by The Sunday Times and Sheerluxe.

Her first novel, Dirty Water, will be published by New Island in spring 2027.

She lives in southwest France with her husband, two young sons, four chickens, a sadistic cat and, thanks to said sadistic cat, the occasional decapitated gecko.
