Avery Curran

Avery Curran is a writer and researcher based in London, where she lives with her girlfriend and a beautiful but useless cat. She finished an MA in Victorian Studies in 2021 and is now midway through a PhD at Birkbeck on queerness in nineteenth-century spiritualism. While working on her PhD, she is an intern at 19, a journal focused on the interdisciplinary study of the long nineteenth century.

Her first novel, SPOILED MILK, is set at an isolated girls' boarding school in the 1920s, where the students turn to spiritualism following the mysterious death of one of their number.

SPOILED MILK will be published by riverrun UK, Doubleday US, and Penguin Random House Canada in spring 2026.
