We are thrilled that THE ART OF A LIE by Laura Shepherd-Robinson has been shortlisted for the Historical Writers Awards Gold Crown!

The HWA Gold Crown Award judges are: Amy McElroy (chair), Ellen Alpsten, Rebecca Batley, Sharon Bennett Connolly, Jean Fullerton, Andrew Lockett, Miranda Malins and Thomas Mogford.

Amy says: “This year’s HWA Gold Crown shortlist has taken the judging panel on an adventure like no other. We have travelled across the world, to Venice, England, Maine and journeyed through centuries of time to arrive at a short list that captivated us all. We have wept at tragic events, laughed at wartime banter, felt anger at betrayal, and scratched our heads trying to solve mysteries. Books like these are exactly why historical fiction is so popular.”
