Jackie Wullschläger is a literary critic and Chief Art Critic for the Financial Times. Her biography of Victorian and Edwardian children’s writers, INVENTING WONDERLAND: The Lives and Fantasies of Lewis Carroll, Edward Lear, J. M. Barrie, was published to acclaim in 1996, while her ground-breaking biography of Hans Christian Andersen has won several prizes since its publication in 2000. Her 2005 biography CHAGALL was shortlisted for both the Costa Biography Award and the Duff Cooper Prize. CHAGALL was named Biography of the Year at the 2009 Spear's Book Awards. Jackie lives in London with her husband and three children.
Jackie's latest publication, MONET: The Restless Vision was published in the UK in October 2023 by Allen Lane and will be published in the US by Knopf in September 2024. It won the Elizabeth Longford Prize for Historical Biography in 2024.
