Shreya Ila Anasuya
Shreya Ila Anasuya is an Indian writer of fiction based in the United Kingdom.
She has a BA in English Literature from Jadavpur University and an MA in Anthropology from SOAS University of London, where she was a Felix scholar. She is completing a PhD at King’s College London, supported by the London Arts and Humanities Partnership.
THE POISON PALACE, her first novel, is forthcoming from Sphere (Little, Brown) in the United Kingdom, Dutton (PRH) in the USA, and an Indian publisher (TBA). It is a lush, immersive retelling of Alexander the Great’s invasion of ancient India told from the point of view of Eka, a poison maiden or vishkanya of Indian myth, sent from the kingdom of Magadh to kill Alexander.
Shreya’s short fiction has been widely anthologised in publications by Hachette India, HarperCollins US, FC2 and the Aleph Book Co, and has appeared in publications like Strange Horizons and the Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. It has been supported by a Society of Authors work in progress grant, a Milford bursary, the Sangam House residency, the Toto Award for creative writing, and the Otherwise fellowship, among others.
